The Implementation of Sensible KPIs in Revenue Assurance
As Revenue Assurance practices have become more mainstream, the audience interested in results has grown. This, coupled with the increased level of complexity in processes undertaken by these practices, has overwhelmed some RA teams, as they struggle to provide the metrics demanded by the business. In this presentation the discussion will focus on strategies to implement the “right” KPIs, by outlining the steps necessary to define, design, and implement the right metrics for the right audience.

John Brooks, Vice President, Americas Presales Consulting, Subex

The speakers will show attendees how to define and implement an efficient strategy of controls and check points for content delivery. The discussion will include:
  • Understanding the flow of data through your systems
  • Different methods of billing
  • The process of defining the value chain
  • Definition of needed data sources

Session B
Conducting an Interconnect Cost Audit
In off-net and intercarrier usage situations, companies are often reliant on data supplied outside of their own ordering and business systems to bill their customers effectively. As such, costs that fit these scenarios need to be examined using a pyramid approach: Cost to System, System to Bill, and Bill to Cost. Understanding and evaluating these costs are critical to identifying any overbillings, pinpointing any revenue leakage, and ensuring expected margins will be achieved. The workshop will discuss how to conduct a cost audit and its role in the analytics and revenue assurance process. MVNO, local interconnection, IXC overflow, and unbundled usage costs and billing scenarios will be highlighted for illustrative purposes.

Chris Harrison, Senior Principal, Director of Audit Services, TEOCO
Yves Robinson, Director SONAR Applications, TEOCO

3:20-3:45 Break and Exhibits

3:45-4:30
Session A
Revenue Assurance for Newly Released Products and Services
This workshop will focus on processes that ensure accurate customer service profile data from sales points to the revenue chain; specifically, the successful transfer of this data to the mediation platform for rating. It will directly address revenue assurance vis-à-vis new product and service definition and sales, a known cause of revenue leakage. Attendees will learn:
  • New product and service release processes
  • Customer data capture processes and service profile creation for new services and products
  • Integration of revenue chain systems with new product and service releases for accurate service profile creation in the revenue chain, especially mediation
  • Other impacted systems in the revenue chain
Kaushik Chaudhuri, Product Manager for Revenue Assurance Verification Engine, Tech Mahindra

Session B
Revenue Assurance for Converged Communications: The Challenge of Event-Driven Transactions
Participants in this workshop learn about:
  • The challenge of ensuring data integrity across all systems
  • The need for visible assurance on a daily basis that all events are captured and processed correctly (i.e. the ability to prove the completeness of the revenue stream)
  • The complexity of reconciling events at different points in the system architecture
William Tyson, Principal and Vice President, Business Operations, TMNG Global
Don Zurawski, Vice President, TMNG Global

4:40-5:30
Session A
Integrating Mediation and Call Event Warehousing to Drive Forensic RA Efforts
Many of today’s RA solutions deal with record counts and summarized data. This limits a carrier’s ability to perform any sort of detailed analysis. The speakers will describe a better solution where call event warehouse data is enriched with industry/geographic content, allowing effective audit control points as it relates to network, billing, accounts payable, and margin analysis. In this session, you will learn how to integrate mediation and call event warehousing to effectively match SS7/EMI/AMA data from various trading partners, how to create an integrated “sandbox” to perform what if’s/trending/business intelligence; and to provide predictive revenue streams.

Zander Krause, Principal of Usage & Revenue, Assurance, Kansys
Brian Preston, Director, ASP Services, Kansys

Session B
Network Cost Intelligence: A Critical Enabler of Telco Profitability
Network cost business intelligence can be a key enabler for improved profit margins through increased cost efficiency, reduced revenue leakage, and streamlined processes. This talk will delve into best practices adopted by forward thinking service providers that combine intelligent data capture, automation and business intelligence to get a consolidated and detailed view of cost and revenue – enabling measurable returns.

Switch Testing that Your Network Doesn't Do
Call through testing for verifying recording, billing, features and restrictions is one of the most basic yet fundamental procedures of any revenue assurance program. In this workshop, the leader will show you how to:

Assessing Your Revenue Assurance Strengths ….. and Weaknesses
Revenue assurance is a lot more than tool sets. It is an enterprise-wide mindset which only can be successful if all the stakeholders are involved. Hear how AT&T (Southeast Region) successfully addressed this challenge. The speakers will discuss:
  • Understanding your internal capabilities (i.e. data, systems, etc.)
  • Leveraging internal and external capabilities and expertise to develop analytical approach and strengthen business case
  • Executing intercarrier audits strategically
  • Getting buy-in from business stakeholders (i.e. legal, regulatory, intercarrier account teams, etc.)
Marc Potteiger, Wholesale Process Manager, AT&T
Grace Meng, Senior Manager, Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP
9:30-10:15
Session A
Stopping Revenue Avoidance
Operators, have inadvertently exposed themselves to revenue spillage by not having revenue overflow capture and prevention mechanisms built into their infrastructure. As a result, operators are in effect becoming susceptible to revenue avoidance from customers and content partners. This is primarily due to their inability to tailor product pricing for much more narrowly focused customer segments and manage and reconcile with multiple content providers. This workshop will define and illustrate Revenue Avoidance in today's value-added content services delivery environment. Attendees will learn how to stop this invisible form of revenue spillage and finally stop crying over spilt revenue.

Shaji Thomas, Vice President, Sales Americas, Communications, Media and Entertainment, SunTec Business Solutions

Session B
Revenue Assurance for Rating and Billing

The presentation will discuss:
  • The need for assuring rating and billing systems.
  • How to deal with the complexity of assuring rating and billing systems.
  • Deciding on what processes, services, subscribers or control points to cover.
  • Controlling scope and level of detail required for initial phases.
  • Deciding on KPIs and Reports to present
